Winter, stillness, is approaching. Despite the typical hustle and bustle, there is an opportunity here to practice slowing down. And slowing down does take practice. It's become a forgotten art...
We can form a habit of being stuck in our heads, over-thinking, moving too fast and being disconnected with our bodies; all for the sake "getting things done" and "solving problems"! Rational endeavors.
Connecting to the body, the breath, the sensations of emotion: this is where we find a different pace.
People often fear connecting to their bodies. The mind can fear it. But the actual practice is soothing and cathartic. There's a sense of relief that comes from riding a wave of true emotion sensation vs the agitation of avoidance or fogginess of numbness.
The body has its own wisdoms. Learning to listen to the body brings additional relief to the mind. The mind doesn't know how to solve emotions; but the body does!
This season, practice getting out of your head and into your body. Take 90 seconds, a long moment, where there is nothing to do but patiently listen and connect to your inner self.
Simple Chicken Tortilla Soup

This is loaded with veggies! Also delicious vegan: use vegetable stock, exclude the chicken and cheese & double the beans!!
I use PCC's recipe for the base: PCC Chicken Tortilla Soup
To simplify:
just use 1 whole onion
use chopped garlic in a jar
chop the peppers however you like, doesn't have to be julienned :)
use the whole can of beans and the whole can of tomatoes (who wants 1/4 cup beans leftover and lonely?!)
For added flavor, choose fire roasted diced canned tomatoes and feel free to double all the spices.
Serve with avocado.
