About the event

Presented by post-menopausal mental health therapist and licensed nutritionist, Katie McKenna

The Biopsychosocial Impacts of Perimenopause Course Description

This course examines the biopsychosocial impact of perimenopause and menopause on mental health. Participants will explore the neuroendocrine changes that influence mood, cognition, sleep, and behavior, and learn to differentiate hormonally mediated symptoms from primary psychiatric disorders. Emphasis is placed on accurate assessment, reducing misdiagnosis, and integrating culturally responsive, evidence-based interventions. The course also addresses midlife developmental themes, identity shifts, and the role of social and systemic factors in shaping client experience. Clinicians will leave with practical tools to support clients navigating this complex and often misunderstood life transition.

Target Audience

This course is intended for licensed mental health professionals, including psychologists, counselors, social workers, and marriage and family therapists, as well as trainees under supervision.
